It was Bob Dylan who sang, “you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.” But we as golfers can always use a little help when it comes to discerning what the conditions will be when we take our games on the road and how we might prepare – and pack for – the treks we take with our clubs in tow.
One of the newest ways of doing that is through a service called WeatherPlanner.
Through a proprietary process that utilizes algorithms, climatological factors and data going back more than 100 years, WeatherPlanner is designed to provide free, customized weather outlooks for up to a year in advance.
The idea, says company CEO Jay Ciccarone, is to make it easier for golfers to plan ahead for trips and tournaments and figure out the best times to go.
“The Weather Channel just gives you a 10-day forecast,” says Ciccarone. “But we provide outlooks that are based on historical information.”…..READ FULL ARTICLE
