Who's responsible for the slothful six-hour rounds at the Ricoh Women's British Open?

Susan Simpson, tournament director at the Ricoh Women’s British Open, thinks that modern-day player power had a lot to do with the pitiful pace of play at this year’s championship.

The Ladies’ Golf Union official confirmed that Friday rounds which should have been completed in 4 hours and 25 minutes took up to 6 hours and 15 minutes.

When Simpson asked visiting rules officials to put more of an emphasis on timing the culprits, she says she came up against “a seeming reluctance” on their part to go down that path. Her impression was that they were scared of pulling up their own players…
