A Canadian Prodigy Storms the LPGA Stage

“I’m still a long way from where I want to be and where I want to go.”

That was Brooke Henderson’s take on the state of her career the day after becoming the third female younger than 18 to win on the LPGA Tour and rising to 17th in the world. It sounds like hyperbole, but for Henderson, it really isn’t. Given how far she’s come so quickly, and at such a young age, one has to imagine that there probably are no limits on what Henderson might accomplish, at least assuming her focus and interests don’t change as she matures.

Just more than a week ago Henderson ran away with the LPGA Tour’s Cambia Portland Classic in record-setting fashion. It appeared to be an easy win – she prevailed by eight shots – but that overlooks the fact Henderson had to Monday-qualify into the event to start with, given that she had no LPGA status.
