GREENSBORO, NC — As has become typical, the Wyndham Championship changed the fortunes of several players in terms of the FedEx Cup playoffs, which begin Thursday at The Barclays.
Five players – Davis Love III, Jason Gore, Jonas Blixt, Camilo Villegas and Ryo Ishikawa – came from outside the top 125 to secure a spot in the playoffs. Love made the biggest move, jumping from 186th to 76th, assuring himself a spot in the first two playoff events.
“One of my biggest things was just to get back in the top 125 again,” Love said. “Getting back in the top 125 means a lot of tournaments I don’t have to get (sponsor) exemptions to (and I) get back in the Players Championship. … That one and The Masters are kind of crushing that you don’t get there.”
Gore was in 166th place and looking at a return to the Web.com Tour Finals to regain his Tour privileges.
