Believe it or not, tees are pieces of equipment, too, and the good people at Evolve are quick to point to the ways that their Epoch product helps players.
Made in the United States of a durable recycled composite, they feature a four-post, radius design in which each post spans the width of the ball dimple. According to Evolve Golf chief executive B.J. Maloy, that reduces the deflation and friction that comes when balls are hit out of the “cup” of a traditional tee – which allows the ball to be released with less spin, which can enhance distance and accuracy.
One of the Epoch tees, the S-3, boasts another performance attribute, in the form of a so-called Sweet Spot System. Using an app that bears that same name as well as bands that are printed on the tee, golfers can find the optimum tee height for the make and model of the driver that they use, and then return to that position each time they get ready to hit another drive.
