Pieters Enjoys Dutch Treat

Thomas Pieters

Thomas Pieters won his second European Tour title in three weeks, capturing the KLM Open in the Netherlands on Sunday. The 23-year-old Belgian, who shot a final-round 65 at Kennemer Golf & Country Club to finish at 19-under-par 261, dodged a playoff when Lee Slattery, winner of the previous week’s M2M Russian Open, missed a 4-foot par putt at the last that would have forged a deadlock.

Pieters, who on Aug. 30 won his first European Tour title, the D+D REAL Czech Masters, was expected to move into the top 90 in the world ranking. Before winning in the Czech Republic, he was 245th.
