In developing its latest lines of “player’s irons,” Mizuno engineers say they went to great lengths to maintain the preferred look and feel of those sticks while also enhancing their forgiveness and distance.
Consider, for example, the new MP-5s, which those technicians describe as the ultimate geometric blend of a classic Mizuno muscleback and a cavity design. The big technological advance in these blades, which are made of 1025E Pure Select Mild carbon steel, is the so-called Channel Back. Created with feedback from Mizuno’s touring professionals, it is made to maintain thickness behind the point of impact for that desired muscleback feel as it also moves enough mass to create better stability on off-center strikes.
Then, there are the MP-25s.
