Chez Reavie came from five strokes back of the lead on Sunday to win the Small Business Connection Championship, the second of four Web.com Tour Finals events. Reavie shot 6-under 66 in the final round to post 72 holes at 15-under-par 273 at River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C. Reavie’s victory is his second career title on the Web.com Tour and first since the 2007 Knoxville Open. Reavie also has a PGA Tour title, at the 2008 RBC Canadian Open. This past year, Reavie played the PGA Tour on a major medical extension, competing for the first time since early in the 2013-14 season, when left wrist surgery sidelined him.
Who didn’t win
Jamie Lovemark, Steve Marino and Emiliano Grillo tied for second at 14 under, one stroke back of Reavie. Grillo was the 54-hole leader but could manage just an even-par 72 on the final day. Lovemark shot 67 and Marino posted 68 to reach the second-place tie. Brett Stegmaier, who led after 36 holes, finished fifth at 13 under.
How it happened
Stegmaier opened with 63, tying the course record, and followed that with 68 to lead after two days. But a 73-71 finish on the weekend doomed his chances. Grillo shot 66-68-68 to get to 14 under and the 54-hole lead. Grillo led for most of the back nine but fell one behind when Reavie made birdie on the par-5 18th hole.
