Jordan Spieth rolled to another impressive victory, winning the Hyundai Tournament of Champions by eight strokes ahead of Patrick Reed at the Plantation Course at Kapalua. Spieth shot rounds of 66-64-65-67 to finish at 30-under 262.
Who didn’t win
Reed, the defending champion, was briefly within three strokes of Spieth on Sunday but that was as close as anyone would get. Brandt Snedeker and Brooks Koepka finished tied for third, nine behind.
How it happened
Spieth played the par-5s at the Plantation Course in 16 under and probably sparked a rush of players searching for the 3-iron he wielded like a wand at Kapalua.
The tournament shifted on Friday when Spieth shot 64 to build a four-stroke lead at the midpoint. It forced the other 31 players into chase mode, and Spieth’s steady play didn’t allow anyone to make a serious run at him.
