HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA | Branden Grace walked into the champion’s press conference Sunday evening at the RBC Heritage wearing his new red tartan jacket, turned to the audience and asked, “Look good?”
Like Harbour Town, it looked made for Grace. On Wednesday night before the tournament began, Grace had coffee with fellow South African Ernie Els, who believed the Heritage was an ideal fit for Grace.
“He told me this is one event I was going to win a couple times,” Grace said.
Els reminded Grace of that conversation when he called his friend shortly after the tournament concluded.
Grace played the RBC Heritage on a sponsor exemption last year and earned his first top-10 finish on the PGA Tour. He’s since bought a home in South Florida and is playing both the PGA and European tours.
