Minjee Lee, a 19-year-old who arguably has the most beautiful golf swing on the LPGA Tour, fired an extraordinary final-round 64 at the Ko Olina Golf Club on Oahu, Hawaii, to finish 16-under par and lock up her second career LPGA title, the Lotte Championship, by a shot.
Third-round leader and sentimental favorite Katie Burnett, a 26-year-old from Brunswick, Ga., ranked 195th in the world and winless in her fourth year on tour, held a one-shot lead going into the final round and maintained that lead throughout much of Saturday’s finale. Then a three-putt bogey at 16 dropped her behind Lee, who birdied the 17th just ahead. Even though Burnett had her worst ballstriking round of the week, she still had a chance when she hit her approach within 5 feet at 17. But that birdie putt slipped just below the hole, as did her 35-footer for birdie at 18. She closed with a 70 for a 15-under total and her career-best finish on the LPGA Tour.
