Jordan Spieth made birdies on his last three holes to take the lead and win the Dean & DeLuca Invitational by three shots over Harris English. It was Spieth’s second victory of the PGA Tour season and his first since the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in January. Spieth shot 5-under 65 on Sunday and posted a 72-hole total of 17-under 263 at Colonial Country Club.
Who Didn’t Win:
English shot 66 on Sunday but couldn’t make any magic nearly like Spieth did over the closing holes, finishing at 14 under. It was his best finish on Tour this season. Spieth started Sunday’s final round with a one-shot lead over Simpson and Palmer, his playing partners in the final group. But Spieth made nine straight pars, while Palmer birdied the first two holes. English got into the fray with four birdies in a five-hole stretch around the turn. English, Palmer, Kyle Reifers and Simpson all toyed with the lead until Spieth took over on the back nine. Spieth made three straight birdies starting at the 10th to make a run at English, who made a critical bogey at the 12th. Spieth took the lead for good with a birdie at the par-3 16th before adding the final two to close. ….. READ FULL ARTICLE
