Wilson wins on second hole
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Of the two playoff participants, Mark Wilson is the only one to have birdied the 10th hole this week.
His tee shot on the 377-yard par 5 landed in the right center part of the fairway. Jason Dufner, on the other hand, is in the left rough.
Dufner hit first, and his approach landed on the green, but it’s 40 feet left of the hole. Wilson chose a 7-iron and chased it up to the hole, about 9 feet from the pin.
Dufner’s first putt barely got inside Wilson, stopping 7 feet away. Wilson, who was 65 of 69 inside 10 feet this week, made the putt to win the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
The victory was Wilson’s second in three starts and fourth of his career. Not to mention, it vaulted him to first in the FedExCup.
