FootJoy Goes Casual With New Contour

The casual golf footwear category continues to grow as more and more golfers, both serious and recreational, turn to these types of products. Industry observers estimate that size of the market to now be roughly 10 percent, and one of the most significant entries of late is the Contour Casual from FootJoy.

The first two models in this line came out in March, with one dark brown and green in color and the other black and taupe blaze. Two months later, the Massachusetts-based glove, shoe, sock and outerwear maker brought out a second offering, one of which was white and taupe blaze and the other navy and red.

All four versions of the Casual Contour, which is an extension of the company’s successful Contour Series franchise, feature full-leather uppers that are designed to be super soft as well as a lightweight outsole that utilizes nubs for traction. FootJoy offers a one-year, waterproof guarantee and officials there say this shoe has the most sizing options in the casual spikeless category, with 47 possible length and width combinations.

According to Mike Foley, director of marketing for footwear at FootJoy, Casual Contour was born primarily from a need to address a lifestyle trend among golfers who prefer to play these days in the same shoes they wear to and from the course.

“These are an ideal option for those who enjoy that convenience but still demand the premium materials, comfort, style and fit that FootJoy is known for,” he says. “These Casual Contours give him the versatility to wear them anywhere, anytime, and the ease of not having to change his shoes when he gets to the course.”
