Veteran journalist will cover PGA TOUR for expanding digital weekly
WINTER PARK, FLORIDA (January 21, 2013) – Award-winning sports journalist Ron Green Jr. has joined the staff at Global Golf Post, the world’s first digital-only golf news publication.
“We are excited about the combination of talent and experience Ron Green Jr. brings,” said Brian Hewitt, Global Golf Post editor-in-chief. “And we are even more enthused about having Green as our own writer and reporter — a ‘dedicated line’ if you will — covering the PGA Tour on a full-time basis. This is an important step forward for Global Golf Post.”
Over the past two decades at the Charlotte Observer, Green has written about golf, college sports, the NBA and NFL. He has covered more than 50 major championships and five Ryder Cups.
Green’s decorated career is highlighted by six first-place awards from the Golf Writers Association of America, multiple APSE Top 10 awards, as well as the Sportswriter of the Year awards in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
Green will travel across the United States to bring in-depth PGA TOUR coverage to Global Golf Post readers, through the new Global Golf Post blog and the weekly digital magazine issues. He makes his debut at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course, Jan. 21-27.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Green received his B.A. in Political Science. He resides in Charlotte, N.C., with his wife and daughter.
