Something needs to be done about the 14th green at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
For those who don’t know or remember, the 14th is a par-5 that normally is not reachable in two and most everyone is faced with a devilish third shot to a green that has only one or two pin positions, both of which are on the top level. The bottom half of the green is unpinnable.
Patrick Cantlay made 8 from less than 100 yards from the green on his third shot on Saturday. The hole is just unplayable and needs to be blown up and started over. Dick Ferris, one of the principals of the Pebble Beach Company, hinted on Friday that there might be alterations to the 14th before next year’s event. A stick of dynamite should do just fine.
