When you play in the Valley of the Sun, you must remember to look up. In Arizona, the views are such that if you are grinding too hard on your game, you’ll miss some of the best scenery in golf.
Nowhere is that more true than at We-Ko-Pa, northeast of Phoenix in Fort McDowell. Especially if you find yourself out there when the sun goes down. The sunsets are inspiring.
The golf is really good as well, with the Cholla (Coore-Crenshaw) and the Saguaro (Scott Miller). Two different courses but each a delight. You can easily see the Four Peaks, which roughly translates into We-Ko-Pa in the language of the Yavapai Nation, which owns the two golf courses.
I don’t know what the Yavapai word is for panoramic, but that’s what you get here. Take a moment – or two – and take it all in.
