Can Freddie Make One Last Run?

Fred Couples said again that if he wins The Masters on Sunday, he will retire immediately.

Freddie said the same thing last year when he was in a similar position but then he shot 75-72 to finish tied for 12th and keep his part-time job playing the Champions Tour.

Can Freddie really win this Masters?

Sure he can.

Is it likely?

Of course not.

Despite finishing with two bogeys in his last four holes Friday (one of which was the result of hitting the stick with his third shot at the par-5 15th and having it carom into the water), Tiger Woods remains the man to beat. He’s spotting Jason Day three shots going into the weekend, but Day is spotting Tiger 14 major championship victories.

It’s been 21 years since Couples won his Masters. It’s cool to think he might be two days from another one.

A 14-year old kid made the cut despite a slow-play penalty. Makes a 53-year old winning again seem like no big deal.
