For many players, the middle of summer golf season is a good time to consider the virtues of re-gripping their golf clubs – and to contemplate some of the newer offerings in that product category. At Golf Pride, the North Carolina-based concern owned by the diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton, the latest release of note is the Niion line. It not only features five vibrant color combinations, which is an important consideration in the increasingly stylish grip business these days, but also a firm, tacky rubber compound designed for tour professionals and recreational players alike. Company engineers describe Niion as being their firmest and most durable rubber grip, thanks to a newly developed rubber curing process they employ in production. The line also utilizes an advanced tri-texture surface pattern and Hexagon technology to deliver traction, stability and torsional control throughout the swing. “It is no secret that color is in and we’re certainly bringing that with the addition of our Niion line,” says Brandon Sowell, global sales and marketing manager for Eaton’s golf grip division. “However, the Niion is about much more than cosmetics. The new texture and pattern technologies offer performance unlike anything currently available in the marketplace, and the unique material construction makes these grips a great choice.” At the same time, Golf Pride has refreshed its Patriot line by adding the Z-Grip Patriot, which comes in a red, white and blue color scheme and features the same grip pattern popularized by last year’s Z-Grip Cord but boasts an all-rubber material construction.
