Srixon Unveils Spin Skin

Srixon officials claim that their new Z-Star and Z-Star XV products are the most technologically advanced tour performance golf balls they have ever developed. And perhaps the most significant development in this line is what the company calls Spin Skin, used on both products.
Spin Skin is a proprietary coating newly developed by Srixon that is de- signed to enhance greenside spin and control without sacrificing distance off the tee. According to company engineers, it does that by improving friction between the golf ball and club surface by 20 percent. That increase, they say, allows for better contact between ball and club, and better performance as a result.
Both versions of the Z-Star ball, which has accumulated more than 40 professional wins this season and is regularly put in play by the likes of Inbee Park, Graeme McDowell, Miguel Ángel Jiménez and Hideki Matsuyama, boast a new “speed dimple” design that is made to balance dimple surface cover- age with uniformity to produce the least amount of drag while the ball is in flight.
There are, however, differences in the cores. The Z-Star XV employs a dual core construction to optimize the combination of trajectory and spin off the tee, with faster swing speeds optimizing total distances.
