Callaway Introduces X2 Hot

The PGA Merchandise Show is often an occasion for equipment makers to introduce products, and Callaway Golf is using the 2014 edition of the annual trade conclave to unveil its X2 Hot line, which includes drivers, fairway metals, hybrids and irons. “We challenged ourselves to reinvent each product (in this group) to meaningfully improve distance, speed and forgiveness across every category,” said Alan Hocknell, senior vice president of research and development for Callaway. “We worked hard for every ounce of discretionary weight, every thousandth of an inch of metal, to increase ball speed and overall distance while improving total performance, especially on off-center hits.” Hocknell is among those at the Carlsbad, Calif., concern who believe that the new X2 Hot driver is going to generate excitement. One reason, he says, is its use of Callaway’s new Hyper Speed Face technology, which enables the company to add size to the clubhead without adding weight.
