Alabama Chases NCAA Repeat

The University of Alabama will be looking to secure its second consecutive NCAA men’s golf title this afternoon when it faces Oklahoma State in the Division I match-play final at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.

The Crimson Tide, which defeated Illinois, 4-1, in last year’s five-match final, advanced to the brink of a repeat on Tuesday by defeating SMU in the quarterfinals and LSU in the semifinals. Meanwhile the 10-time NCAA champion Cowboys advanced with victories against Georgia Tech and Stanford.

Alabama and Oklahoma State are ranked Nos. 1 and 2 in the country by Golfstat. Alabama is making its third consecutive final appearance, having lost to a Texas squad that featured Jordan Spieth in 2012. The last team to repeat as NCAA champions was Augusta State in 2010-11.
