Tiger Woods was on his way to Valhalla, site of the PGA Championship, around noon today and had a 2 p.m. practice round scheduled, leading to the assumption he will tee it up as scheduled Thursday with Phil Mickleson and Pádraig Harrington when the tournament begins.

Camera crews had been staking out Woods’ empty parking spot in the players’ lot Wednesday with no guarantee he would make the trip to Louisville, Ky. But Woods’ arrival around lunch time sent a ripple of excitement through the grounds.

Woods’ status has been uncertain since he withdrew from the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday after nine holes due to back problems.
