This year’s PGA Grand Slam of Golf will not be contested, it was announced Thursday.
Originally slated for Oct. 20-21 at Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles, this year’s edition of the event was in jeopardy after the PGA of America announced in July that it would part ways with the venue following Donald Trump’s remarks about Mexican immigrants. There was hope the event would still be played if a host could be determined.
On Thursday, the PGA released the following statement: “Due to the timing and logistics needed to stage the PGA Grand Slam of Golf to the highest standards, we are disappointed that we will not be able to conduct the event this year.”
The organization plans to host the event in 2016.
