Oak Hill Country Club will host the 2023 PGA Championship on its fabled East Course, the PGA of America announced on Wednesday.
Located outside Rochester, N.Y., Oak Hill has been the site of past major victories by notables such as Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and Curtis Strange and one-hit wonders Shaun Micheel and Jason Dufner. The 2023 tournament will be the fourth PGA Championship staged on the Donald Ross design, tying it with Oklahoma’s Southern Hills Country Club as the event’s most prolific host.
The Democrat and Chronicle first reported news of the PGA’s Oak Hill return last month. The report speculated that the club is in line to become a core venue in a PGA Championship rotation, meaning it would return every seven or eight years.
Meanwhile, the USGA announced Tuesday that The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo., will host the 2018 U.S. Senior Open on its East Course, another Ross design. The USGA previously staged the 2008 U.S. Senior Open and two U.S. Women’s Opens on the East layout.
