In the past nine months, Rickie Fowler has done nothing but impress inside the ropes, winning twice each on the PGA and European tours against stellar fields.
What Fowler did after his latest victory last Sunday in Abu Dhabi, where he vanquished Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy among others, suggests an equally impressive character.
Boarding a plane at 2:30 a.m. Monday in the United Arab Emirates, Fowler flew 17 hours to San Francisco and turned up to cohost a kids clinic outside San Diego Monday afternoon, according to a report in The San Diego Union-Tribune.
Granted, Fowler likely wasn’t in a middle seat in coach, and he gained 12 hours along the way. But after winning halfway across the world, some golfers might have sent their regrets.
It’s a gesture that shows Fowler is a star who gets it.
