OWGR Snapshot: Johnson Climbs to No. 2

Dustin Johnson
Dustin Johnson's run of success this past year has seen him climb all the way to No. 2 in the OWGR.

In this week’s Official World Golf Ranking:

After his second consecutive victory – this one coming at the WGC-Bridgestone InvitationalDustin Johnson (US) rises to No. 2 for the first time in his career, climbing over Jordan Spieth this week. In his last four starts, Johnson has placed in the top five each time, helping him rise six spots from No. 8 in the past two months. In a long run of success, it’s been more than 12 months since Johnson last missed a cut on the PGA Tour.

Scott Piercy, who has finished second to Johnson at both the U.S. Open and the WGC-Bridgestone, has risen from No. 66 to No. 25 on the strength of those two runner-up finishes.

Jason Day (AUS) holds the No. 1 ranking for the 15th consecutive week. It is tied with Fred Couples’ second and final stint in 1992 as the 21st-longest streak in the history of the ranking, which began in 1986

Including his two short stints at No. 1 last autumn, Day now has topped the ranking for a total of 19 weeks. It is the 12th-highest compilation of weeks in the top position by a player.
