In an untraditional major championship Sunday at the PGA Championship, Jimmy Walker is in position to take his run at a signature victory.
The 37-year-old Baylor product had to wait about 36 hours to play his third round after rain wiped out afternoon play yesterday, and he struggled out of the gate early on with bogeys at Nos. 3, 5 and 8. However, four back side birdies catapulted him back into the lead where he stands one clear of Jason Day and two clear of Henrik Stenson and Brooks Koepka.
In an attempt to avoid a Monday finish, the groups have not been repaired for the final round. Also unusual is that preferred lies will be offered in closely mown areas for the first time in PGA Championship history.
