Five to Watch: Travelers Championship

Bubba Watson is a two-time winner of the Travelers Championship. He's pictured here at TPC River Highlands on June 28, 2015 in Cromwell, Conn.

Just because the men’s major championship season is complete, it doesn’t mean the season is complete.

In fact, three of the four U.S. Olympic golfers – Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed and Matt Kuchar – are in the field this week at the Travelers Championship while the fourth Olympian, Rickie Fowler, is prepping on his own.

There’s a solid field at the Travelers again this year and here are our five picks at TPC River Highlands, outside Hartford, Conn.:

Bubba Watson: How can you not pick Bubba at the Travelers? He’s won there twice (including last year) and he also has a T2 and T4 on his record there. What’s not to like?

Jon Rahm: He’s been on enough leaderboards already that Rahm doesn’t seem like a rookie. He’s made himself comfortable on Tour and he’s fun to watch with his combination of power and personality. No one will be surprised when he wins.

Brooks Koepka: We’d all like to be talented enough to finish T4 in the PGA Championship despite an ankle injury that would keep most of us in the recliner for a while. He’s intent on locking down a Ryder Cup spot, which will please captain Davis Love III.

Branden Grace: He hung around last week at the PGA Championship but couldn’t quite chase down the leaders. With his game, Grace never seems like a bad pick.

Webb Simpson: After a very slow start this year, Simpson’s game is coming around. He’s strung together several top-20 finishes and he’s playing with more confidence again.
