Tiger Announces TGR Brand, Moves Forward With “Chapter 2”

Team USA vice-captain Tiger Woods is introduced during the opening ceremony for the 41st Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National Golf Club.

We aren’t sure when we will see Tiger again on the course, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t making any moves off of it.

Woods announced Monday the formation of a new enterprise called TGR that will serve as the umbrella for all of his initiatives. The logo features three triangles that look like the stripes of a tiger and form the outline of a ‘W’.

“As I work toward returning to the sport I love, I’m also taking the Win an Ireland Golf Tripnext step in what I like to call Chapter 2: my evolution as a competitor off the course,” Tiger wrote on his website. That next step — and my next chapter — is TGR. I’ve spent nearly two years developing TGR with my team. And this is what we are about: the pursuit of excellence beyond all limits.”

Tiger’s foundation, course design business and restaurant are the current ventures making up TGR.

“As I enter this next chapter with TGR, I’m committed to building a legacy that goes beyond just me,” Woods wrote. “Because true excellence — TGR’s kind of excellence — knows no limits. “

With the announcement, the cloud of doubt over Tiger’s playing career continues to intensify. Read Ron Green Jr.’s column on what the future may hold — or not hold — for the 14-time major champion.
