We aren’t sure when we will see Tiger again on the course, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t making any moves off of it.
Woods announced Monday the formation of a new enterprise called TGR that will serve as the umbrella for all of his initiatives. The logo features three triangles that look like the stripes of a tiger and form the outline of a ‘W’.
“As I work toward returning to the sport I love, I’m also taking the next step in what I like to call Chapter 2: my evolution as a competitor off the course,” Tiger wrote on his website. “That next step — and my next chapter — is TGR. I’ve spent nearly two years developing TGR with my team. And this is what we are about: the pursuit of excellence beyond all limits.”
Tiger’s foundation, course design business and restaurant are the current ventures making up TGR.
“As I enter this next chapter with TGR, I’m committed to building a legacy that goes beyond just me,” Woods wrote. “Because true excellence — TGR’s kind of excellence — knows no limits. “
With the announcement, the cloud of doubt over Tiger’s playing career continues to intensify. Read Ron Green Jr.’s column on what the future may hold — or not hold — for the 14-time major champion.
