× Tour Testing New Sunday-Wednesday Schedule

For the first time in its history, the Tour is headed to the Bahamas to start the 2017 season.

The Tour announced Wednesday that the season-opening Bahamas Great Exuma Classic will be held Jan. 8-11 at Sandals Emerald Bay, and will be followed by the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at Abaco Club on Jan. 22-25 . Each event will begin on Sunday and end on Wednesday, a break from the conventional Thursday-Sunday schedule that tends to particularly struggle in January when the NFL playoffs dominate the weekend.

“We are excited to announce these two season-opening events in the Bahamas,” said Tour president Bill Calfee. “I’m confident that the groundbreaking nature of the tournament structure, coupled with the scenic beauty of The Out Islands, will make for a fantastic television product for our fans.”

The events add to the Bahamas current golf profile, which includes an LPGA event and the unofficial Hero World Challenge, where Tiger Woods is planning his return to competitive golf, Dec. 1-4.
