PostCast, Episode 7: Determining the ‘Real’ Top 10, Explaining Why the Game’s Best Haven’t Gotten Longer and More

In this episode of the PostCast, Sean Fairholm and Cassie Stein discuss Dustin Johnson reaching No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking and the pro game’s “real” top 10 at this moment.

The co-hosts are joined by Global Golf Post Executive Editor Mike Cullity, who delves into the accuracy of the world ranking, how players regard it and how the game’s current best stack up against each other. Cullity’s top five has a surprise at No. 5 and also features Hideki Matsuyama – but not Rory McIlroy or Jason Day.

Following Cullity, LPGA insider Steve Eubanks comes on the show to talk about his piece on the USGA and R&A’s driving distance report. Eubanks goes into the statistics behind why professional golfers are not hitting the ball significantly farther since 2003 and what golf should do, if anything, to regulate how far the ball travels.

Sean and Cassie also offer the schedule for this week and their picks for the Honda Classic.
