In this episode of the PostCast, Sean Fairholm and Cassie Stein discuss the unintended side effects Rory is dealing with after playing with President Donald Trump, the PGA Tour’s move from Doral to Mexico and more.
The co-hosts are joined by The Post’s PGA Tour insider Ron Green Jr., who gives his take on a host of subjects. He offers his take on the criticism McIlroy has received after playing golf with Trump:
“I think it’s blown out of proportion. … My sense was that this was wholly a golf thing. Rory lives down in that area, he got the invitation, he went and did it and I thought nothing more of it.”
Another subject Green Jr. touches on is Doral missing from the PGA Tour schedule for the first time in more than a half century:
“There’s a real intention to bring golf back (to Miami). They have a huge market and they had 52 or 53 straight years at Doral. It’s strange that it’s not there now this year because it’s one of those instantly identifiable parts of the PGA Tour schedule.”
