In this week’s episode of the PostCast, Sean Fairholm and Cassie Stein are joined by Tim Mickelson, an agent to PGA Tour player Jon Rahm and brother to five-time major champion Phil Mickelson.
Tim’s talks about his brother Phil, seven years his elder, about how they grew up together and the best part of their relationship:
“You know there really is no favorite memory, but I just can’t think of a bad memory. With him being seven years old than me, we had like the perfect brother-brother relationship. We never fought, he was always like my mentor and my bodyguard and obviously I was always his little brother, to do what he wanted with, but we never fought, we never threw punches or bickered. I couldn’t imagine having a better other brother and I have a great big sister, too.”
After talking about family, Mickelson then discusses Rahm and how his relationship with the 22-year-old rising star on the PGA Tour has grown since meeting him at Arizona State four and a half years ago and why he followed him to the Tour:
“It was pretty simple. Obviously, I was able to watch his golf game, so I knew he was going to be talented, but I believed in him as a person both on and off the golf course with what he represents, how he acts, how he carries himself, how he thinks, how he cares for other people … I said, ‘This is the type of person I want to spend a lot of time around,’ and when the opportunity presented itself, it just sort of worked out, and I said let’s do it.”
Sean and Cassie also recap the week that was on the PGA Tour, European Tour, LPGA and in the amateur game. Plus, we make our predictions for this week’s Wells Fargo Championship at Eagle Point Golf Club.
