Solo leads have been few and far between this week at the Players Championship, so it only makes sense to have another tie heading into the final round.

J.B. Holmes (70 on Saturday) and Kyle Stanley (72) will make up the final pairing Sunday at TPC Sawgrass after both avoided disasters on a day littered with them. The two are at 9 under, one ahead of Louis Oosthuizen and two clear of Si Woo Kim.

Holmes went around his first 13 holes without a bogey before a wayward drive on No. 14 led to his first blemish of the day. However, he recovered on No. 17 with this beautiful wedge shot:

Stanley stumbled out of the gate with three bogeys in his first four holes, but he played nearly flawless golf coming home. His tee shot on No. 17 led to a tap-in birdie:

Oosthuizen’s day started much like that of his playing partner Stanley as he bogeyed two of his first five holes and looked to be leaking oil. However, he recouped and finished in 1 under from that point.

Kim, a winner at last season’s Wyndham Championship, played a marvelous round of 4-under 68, highlighted by this gutsy driver off the deck at No. 14 from 268 yards out:

Behind those four will be a dangerous twosome of Emiliano Grillo and Ian Poulter, each three back of the lead. Grillo’s 5-under 67 and Poulter’s bogey-free 1-under 71 have them in a solid position with 18 holes remaining.

The biggest name on a board without many is Sergio García. The Masters champion carded six birdies on his day and then added this eagle on No. 16 to throw his name into the ring:

Patrick Cantlay and Alex Norén (-5) also will begin the final round four strokes behind the leaders.
