Tiger Woods posted a short statement on Twitter Monday evening indicating he is going through treatment to help him with issues related to medications and a sleep disorder, his first comments since being arrested recently on a DUI charge near his home in Jupiter, Fla.
On Twitter, Woods wrote: “I’m currently receiving professional help to manage my medications and the ways that I deal with back pain and a sleep disorder. I want to thank everyone for the amazing outpouring of support and understanding especially the fans and players on Tour.”
Woods had not commented since a statement after his arrest on Memorial Day in which he said alcohol was not involved in his arrest. He said he had “an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications.”
Woods has undergone four back surgeries in recent years and his return to competitive golf earlier this year was cut short when his back problems persisted.
There had been recent reports that Woods is undergoing treatment for issues that led to his arrest.
