It’s quickly becoming the most (in)famous golf video of the year.
President Donald Trump appears to be driving his cart across a green at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., in a video taken by a fellow golfer.
While it is universally acknowledged as a serious breach of etiquette to drive a cart on or near the putting green, some golfers greeted it with a big yawn because Trump owns the golf course, while others were appalled. Still others chose to keep a sense of humor about it. Watch the video and see for yourself:

The video was posted by Twitter user @MikeNFrank Wednesday and by Thursday morning it had caught the attention of media worldwide. Golf news outlets were the first to report it, and soon the rest of the world grabbed hold. Newsweek, The Washington Post, Politico, The Hill and Business Insider were among the mainstream media outlets reporting the infraction. Media in Canada, Great Britain, Australia followed suit.
As the controversial video spread on social media, there was no shortage of opinion, as tens of thousands of golfers expressed their points of view.
“No proper golfer would ever do this.”
“The paying customers who have to putt over his tracks should ask for their money back.”
“Those that defend him because it’s his course, have NO concept of golf and etiquette – any other person on any course would be reprimanded and maybe removed!!!”
“It’s not OK just because you are Trump. Yet people will defend him. This is a problem with the US. We allow our “leaders” to get away with stuff we would never get away with.”
“It’s his course, he can do as he pleases.”
“Driving a cart on a green really isn’t a big deal. I’m a golf course maintenance employee so trust me, heavier equipment are on greens a lot more than you think.”
“Unless excessively wet this would do no damage, but isn’t recommended. That said, it is his damn course, he can go anywhere and do anything he wants and it is nobody’s business.”
“If in fact Trump did drive a golf cart on the green, who cares? It’s his golf course. He could drive a backhoe on it if he chose.”
“Was he actually on the green? It almost looks like he was on a closely shaved fairway before the green.”
“Pretty sure that’s the apron.”
“The undulations in the fairway obscure the depth perception. He’s not on the green. Just another cheap shot at Trump.”
“If and I say IF he’s on the green there, it would have to be the world’s biggest green!!! Pretty confident he isn’t on the green.”
“I have to tell you something … I’m a great driver of the golf cart, nobody drives the golf cart better than me. The other day, I drove a golf cart in a place that no one ever even thought to drive a golf cart. This is how we’re going to make America great again.”
“He’s a 71-year-old with a residence in S. Florida. Driving a cart on the green is par for the course. Pun intended.”
