In this episode of the PostCast, Cassie Stein and Sean Fairholm are joined by The Post’s Travel Editor, John Steinbreder, to discuss his recent trip to France.
Steinbreder not only covered the Open de France, won by Tommy Fleetwood, but he also traveled around the country and played a fair amount of golf himself.
“I’ve been to France maybe 20 to 25 times, but I had never brought my sticks with me before,” Steinbreder said. “I was pretty surprised at the level of golf the country offers.”
Chief among those courses offered is Le Golf National, host of the 2018 Ryder Cup. Although there is only one Frenchman in the top 100 of the Official World Golf Rankings, the country is excited to showcase one of its best layouts on the biggest of stages.
“Le Golf National has hosted 15 of the last 16 Open de Frances and the players and fans really love the venue,” Steinbreder said. “It’s a tough, tough course.”
Also discussed on this week’s PostCast is Jon Rahm’s emergence into the world’s top 10 players and whether he deserved a penalty for incorrectly replacing his ball during Sunday’s final round at the Irish Open.
