As if playing golf with the best equipment isn’t difficult enough, Bubba Watson has somehow found a way to make us all feel worse about our games.
We’ve seen players turn around and play shots from the opposite side with success, but Bubba stayed left-handed for this shot at The Northern Trust pro-am on Wednesday, turning a right-handed driver upside down and smashing a drive 291 yards.
To put this into context, the median average drive for all PGA Tour players is 292.5 yards.
What’s even better is the quotes that came before and after Bubba’s drive.
“Don’t nobody try this at home,” he said while standing over the ball. “But I am a professional.”
After seeing the Trackman numbers, Bubba looked at his amateur partner and said, “You might want to take that one.”
His partner agreed: “I’m gonna play that one.”
The drive must have inspired Bubba, who shot a 3-under 67 in his opening round at The Northern Trust.
