For the past 28 years, the Venture Minnesota Golf Show has hosted a putting contest where contestants can pay $5 for three attempts to hole a 50-foot putt, a 100-foot putt and then a 120-foot putt on artificial turf.
Nobody had ever made all three. Until yesterday.
Paul Shadle, a 49-year-old corporate pilot from Rosemount, Minn., sank the mammoth putts Sunday and sent the crowd into pandemonium. For his miraculous effort, Shadle won a pontoon boat valued at $75,000 and a cool $25,000 in cash.
The proceeds of the contest go toward the First Tee Foundation to help the local youth in Minnesota.
