On Thursday, the R&A announced the female amateurs who will represent Great Britain and Ireland in the 2018 Curtis Cup Match against the United States.
The team includes:
India Clyburn (21, Woodhall Spa, England), who plays for North Carolina State and represented Great Britain and Ireland in the Vagliano Trophy match against the Continent of Europe.
Lily May Humphreys (16, Stoke-by-Nayland, England), winner of the 2018 Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open Championship at Royal Troon.
Annabell Fuller (15, Roehampton, England), who won the 2017 English Girls Open Amateur Championship.
Sophie Lamb (20, Clitheroe, England), low amateur in the 2017 Ricoh Women’s British Open and runner-up in the 2017 Irish Women’s Open.
Paula Grant (24, Lisburn, Ireland), a two-time winner of the Irish Women’s Close Championship.
Shannon McWilliam (18, Aboyne, Scotland), winner of the Border Championship in South Africa.
Alice Hewson (20, Berkhamsted, England), who played in the 2016 Curtis Cup.
Olivia Mehaffey (20, Royal County Down Ladies, Ireland), who also played in the 2016 Curtis Cup and won the Irish Women’s Open and Welsh Ladies Open.
Last week, world No. 2 Leona Maguire told GB&I captain Elaine Farquharson-Black that she would forgo the Curtis Cup to turn professional after graduating from Duke University in May. (Read More; will find link).
Farquharson-Black (50, Deeside, Scotland), will lead the GB&I team as they defend the cup at Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, N.Y., June 8-10.
