Given the option, Tiger Woods would like to wear shorts during hot-weather tournaments.
Answering a question Thursday on a Facebook Live event with Bridgestone, whose golf balls he plays, Woods threw his support behind the idea. It’s not under consideration at the moment – the PGA Tour requires players to wear long pants – but the PGA of America allowed players to wear shorts on practice days prior to the PGA Championship last August. The European Tour also allows shorts on practice days.
“I would love it,” Woods said. “We play in some of the hottest climates on the planet. We usually travel with the sun and a lot of our events are in the summer. On top of that, when we have winter months here, a lot of guys go down to South Africa and Australia where it’s summer down there. Also, a lot of the tournaments are based right around the equator so we play in some of the hottest places on the planet.
“It would be nice to wear shorts. Even with my little chicken legs, I like to wear shorts.”
