Last year, Global Golf Post conducted a major travel sweepstakes. The winner would receive a vacation for four at the Home of American Golf in the Pinehurst-Southern Pines-Aberdeen area of North Carolina.
Our winner, David Oliver of Brandon, Miss., quite fittingly chose U.S. Open week for his foursome to make their journey, which includes a day at the prestigious U.S. Open venue: Pinehurst No. 2.
Other first-class golf courses on their itinerary include Pine Needles, Mid Pines, Mid South, and Talamore, plus lodging at Talamore Resort and an exquisite dinner at The Carolina Dining Room at Pinehurst Resort.
Here’s a look at Oliver & Company’s golf trip of a lifetime — a pilgrimage that golfers everywhere should strive to make at least once in their life. Although, if you’ve been there once, you may find a return trip is necessary to fully experience all that the Home of American Golf has to offer.
Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club
Amazing first day in Pinehurst. Pine Needles golf course lived up to its storied reputation and the staff hospitality exceeded excellent. Donald Ross greens gave us some challenges but the course was in immaculate condition! Enjoying our beautiful condo at Talamore as we get ready to try out one of the great restaurants in town. Tomorrow, it’s Mid Pines and Mid South. LEARN MORE: Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club
Mid Pines Golf Club
Experienced the challenge and beauty of Mid Pines today. Donald Ross greens wore us out but we loved it. We all said we could play this course everyday! So much fun! LEARN MORE: Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club
Talamore Golf Resort / Mid South Club
It just keeps getting better. Talamore golf was fantastic. Absolutely a “must play!” Staff hospitality was awesome (except for the finger in the way of the picture). 🙂 LEARN MORE: Talamore Golf Resort
Mid South Club really was a “wow” golf experience. First class all the way. Dinner at The Carolina Dining Room (photos below) will be a treasured memory for all of us. World class food and service in a historic atmosphere. Simply amazing day today! LEARN MORE: Mid South Club
Pinehurst Resort – No. 2
We ended a great week in Pinehurst by playing the No. 2 course. This U.S. Open course was in spectacular condition. It played really tough but the challenge was exciting. LEARN MORE: Pinehurst Resort
Words cannot express how much we enjoyed our trip to the Home of American golf. Much thanks to Global Golf Post and all the wonderful teams at Pine Needles, Mid Pines, Mid South, Talamore, The Carolina Hotel and Dining Room, and Pinehurst Resort. It was a “bucket list” trip that we will always remember.
