ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI | To be continued.
That’s the status of the second round of the PGA Championship at Bellerive after thunderstorms interrupted play Friday afternoon, suspending play until a scheduled 7 a.m. (CDT) Saturday.
The plan is to complete the second round then start the third round as soon as possible with players going off in groups of three from the first and 10th tees. The expectation is the final groups will tee off around 1:15 p.m. CDT.
The encouraging news is rain chances are minimal for this weekend in the St. Louis area.
The top three players on the leaderboard – Gary Woodland, Kevin Kisner and Brooks Koepka – completed their second rounds before the storms arrived. First-round leader Rickie Fowler completed 10 holes Friday and was at 7-under par, three behind Woodland’s 10-under par lead.
Tiger Woods was 3-under par through seven holes in his second round when play was suspended.
