In early February, the USGA introduced a course conditioning game changer. Known as the USGA Moisture Meter, the groundbreaking product was created after several discussions with – and surveys of – superintendents across the United States.
During these discussions and surveys, a few findings were consistently noted. First, more often than not, superintendents want to have one place for their data input and analysis. They’re also seeking more organization as quickly as possible. And by doing so, they’re striving to optimize their resources and provide enhanced playing conditions to their members and guests.
Second, many superintendents have been using soil moisture sensors to help guide their irrigation decisions. However, the sensors haven’t been utilized universally. As a result, hundreds upon hundreds of superintendents have been missing out on the opportunity to organize their data, use their resources to the fullest and boost golfers’ playing experiences.
