After some rather unsatisfying experiences as a golf professional at a series of municipal golf courses and driving ranges in Northern California, Rick Reimers decided he needed a break. So, he headed to the northern reaches of the Great Plains region where he had grown up, to clear his head on the ski slopes of Montana, not far from his home state of South Dakota.
“I was 23, maybe 24 years old, and needed to figure out what I was going to do next,” he said. “I loved golf and enjoyed being in the industry, but I needed to find another way to make a living in the game.”
A road trip often is a pretty good way to clear one’s head, and Reimers took advantage of that drive.
“The car radio was not working, so I had lots of quiet time to think,” he said. “And by the time I got to Montana, I had pretty much designed a new sort of golf bag in my head.”
