And that appears accurate with the growth of the LPGA Amateur Golf Association.
Operated under the LPGA umbrella, the LPGA Amateur group was established in 2018 when the LPGA acquired the former Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA). At that time, EWGA had 11,444 members in 113 local chapters.
Today, the LPGA Amateur Golf Association boasts 15,000 members, with 130 chapters in five countries and 47 states.
“These are women who are passionate about golf and being in an environment where they are supported by other women,” said Mary-Lee Cobick, senior vice president of the LPGA Foundation and Professionals.
When the decision was made five years ago to bring amateur adults into the LPGA’s fold, the organization already was operating the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program for juniors and the LPGA Professionals for teachers and club pros.
