ELVERSON, PENNSYLVANIA | Katie Miller Gee loves finding creativity in her life.
Whether it is decorating ice cream cakes at her family’s Dairy Queen store in the Pittsburgh area or coaching the Hempfield High School girls golf team, she’s an artist in residence at each.
“I like the creativity, not only working with teams and the creative element of that, but then I also like what I am doing hands-on with both of those,” Miller Gee said. “With golf, what’s kind of cool is the creative element there and then mentally having to stay in it.”
A Pennsylvania golf phenom in high school where she won three state titles and was the runner-up the other year, Miller Gee found a college home at the University of North Carolina where she majored in journalism, with a strong emphasis on TV production — and yes, there was ample opportunity for creativity.
