Courtney Myhrum would have loved to play in this week’s U.S. Senior Women’s Open at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh.
A 16-time participant in USGA championships, she would have been competing against 120 of the world’s best seniors on her home course, a classic Seth Raynor design renovated by Tom Fazio and where she is a seven-time club champion. However, an embolism and subsequent recovery earlier this year forced her to curtail her activities, so she withdrew from her appointed qualifying site for the August 1-4 event.
“I didn’t have the stamina at the time and certainly didn’t have April and May to get my game in shape,” said Myhrum, who has served on the United States Golf Association Executive Committee since 2020. “How often does one get to play in a championship on their own golf course?
