LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA | For all of the data that are part of professional golf today – from launch angles and spin rates to the most granular tendencies – perhaps the most important piece of the game’s eternally vexing puzzle is immeasurable.
It’s resilience.
It’s what allowed Wyndham Clark to keep coming back when he wanted to run away from the game. It’s what drove him to keep grinding when others were winning, and he wasn’t. And, it’s what carried him through the biggest week of his golf life last week at Los Angeles Country Club.
It’s that same trait – resilience – that will be put to the test by Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas this week when they tee it up in the Travelers Championship, another $20 million “designated” tournament on the PGA Tour that offers no rest for the golf-weary.
